FACULTY

Jennifer Rueben, soprano

Jennifer Rueben holds a bachelor's degree in opera perform-
mance from New World School of the Arts College Conserv-
atory. She performs often in Miami. She recently completed
her first season with Florida Grand Opera. Ms. Rueben is
proud to work as a cantorial soloist at Miami's Temple Israel
under the musical direction of Alan Mason. She has also
performed as a hired soloist at the Third Church of Christ
Scientist and Temple Bet Breira, both in Kendall. While she
loves performing, Ms. Rueben is happiest in the private
studio, and teaching is her first priority.

Ms. Rueben has recently relocated to Miami from Minnesota, where she ran a successful voice studio of over fifty students and offered free-lance vocal coaching for many school and community productions. She was also a member of the New Breath Productions company where she performed large roles in various light opera and musical theatre productions. Ms. Rueben was a member and frequent soloist of Choralettes, a South St. Paul women's vocal ensemble. She studied classical and theatre singing under Kenny Kiser.

Ms. Rueben studied voice under Ms. Helen Hodam at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. While in Boston, she taught musical theatre classes for at-risk eighth graders in Dorchester, MA. She was a member of the New England Conservatory Chorus as well as the prestigious Chamber Singers, where she performed with the Kronos Quartet.

Ms. Rueben has studied and coached under many world-renowned singers and teachers, including Virginia Zeani, Rodney Miller, Kenny Kiser, Cynthia Lawrence, and Helen Hodam. She also studied choral music under conductor Erik Christiansen. Ms. Rueben has dabbled in classical Indian vocal music under master Hindustani singer Warren Senders. As a result of these studies, she has developed a deep appreciation for music from many traditions and welcomes diverse musical interests into her studio. It is in this spirit that she founded Lyric Conservatory of Music with the hope that it will develop into a place where excellent classical technique can lend itself to the creation and interpretation of music from a vast array of traditions.
