LESSONS
Lyric Conservatory offers professional, high-caliber voice lessons to students of all musical interests and abilitites. Whether your goal is to have a music career, audition into a choir or musical, or just improve your voice, we can help to shape your voice into the best instrument it can be.
Adults and children are welcome in our programs. Each lesson is tailored to the individual singer. As a Lyric Conservatory student, you will work closely with your teacher to craft a lesson that suits your personal needs.
Skills addressed in our lessons include proper breathing, range extension, tuning, timbre, posture, articulation, stage presence, and much more. Basic music theory and sightreading will also be taught.
In addition to lessons, LCM students are highly encouraged to participate in student recitals and master classes. Recitals are held several times per year, and allow students to showcase their progress in front of a supportive audience of friends and family.
STUDIO RATES AND POLICY
RATES:
$45 - 45 minute lesson in our studio
$60 - 60 minute lesson in our studio
The cost of lessons in your home will be determined based on the distance our teacher will need to travel. In some cases, there will be no additional cost. Please contact LCM for more information.
OTHER FEES
Students will be encouraged to purchase music, attend performances, and occasionally observe and participate in master classes and recitals. Fees may be associated with all of the above. Students will never be billed for any item or service that they have not agreed to purchase.
The studio reserves the right to adjust fees based on the current market and changing circumstances. At least three months' notice will be given to current students if rates must be adjusted.
AVAILABILITY
Lessons are available on weekday afternoons and evenings and all day on weekends. Every effort will be made to schedule each student's lessons with the teacher of their choice at a time that is convenient to them.
PURCHASE AND PAYMENT
One or two trial lessons may be purchased on a weekly basis. After the trial period, lessons must be purchased monthly. All fees must be paid in full before lessons will be given. Cash or checks are accepted. Checks should be made out to Lyric Conservatory of Music.
DISCOUNTS
As of July, 2006, a permanent discount of $5 off the current hourly rate will be given to students who recommend another student to LCM for as long as the recommended student studies. LCM also considers offering discounted lessons based on financial need.
CANCELLATIONS
The faculty will do everything possible to schedule lessons without conflicts. When conflicts are unavoidable and the instructor must cancel, the lesson will be made up either during the current month or as an extra lesson the next month. Every effort will be made to make up missed lessons in a timely manner.
Students may cancel a lesson for any reason and a make-up lesson will be given if 24 hours' notice is given to their instructor. If a lesson is canceled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time, the student is not eligible for a make-up lesson. Emergencies will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. No refunds are given for any reason. To cancel or reschedule a lesson, please contact your teacher directly.
Due to high frequency of the problem, new students who do not show up to their first lesson without prior notification to their teacher will not be rescheduled.
PREPARATION
Students are expected to come to their lessons prepared. This will mean different things for each student. This will always include coming to lessons with all of your materials including assigned music, a notebook, and a pencil. In the rare case that a student leaves their music behind or does not complete the preparation asked, the teacher reserves the right to end the lesson early.
LOANED MATERIALS
The faculty often loan out personal materials for students to use between lessons. If a book or other item is not returned in a timely manner or comes back in unsatisfactory condition, the teacher reserves the right to bill the student for the item. The loaning of materials keeps costs low for students, so it is very important that students are responsible with loaned items.
RECITALS AND MASTER CLASSES
Lyric Conservatory of Music may offer recital and master class performance opportunities to students in the studio. These events are always optional but are highly encouraged. Students must be well-prepared for each recital and master class. The LCM faculty reserves the right to ask unprepared students not to perform in any event. It is expected that students will conduct themselves in a manner that represents the studio well during all public performances. Failure to do so may result in dismissal from the studio.
CONTACT INFORMATION
It is very important that LCM has updated contact information for each student, including telephone, a mailing address, and an email address. Please notify your instructor of any changes in this information.
CONTRACT
All students and a parent or guardian of students under the age of 18 are required to sign a contract stating that they have read and agreed to the above policy.
